GEMS JPS prepares students to face the challenges of the future by creating education programmes relevant to today's world. Our teachers are specialists in their fields and encourage our children to participate, create and contribute.
Our focus on holistic education extends beyond the classroom to embrace a wide range of extra curricular activities including sports, nature trips, arts and crafts and exploratory excursions that provide a well-rounded experience and development of student potential. Extra-curricular subject specialists teach in close collaboration with class teachers.
Leadership skills are part of the daily life and learning in GEMS JPS. House Captains, Sports team captains are part of this but children are also taught how to take a lead in their learning, to show initiative and be responsible whilst always considering others first.

GEMS JPS is a Forward Thinking school in many ways and one aspect that is at the heart of our forward thinking is ICT. Dedicated sessions in the Library and ICT suites also enhance the curriculum delivery. Teachers and students have access to laptops and two modern ICT suites. ICT in GEMS JPS features a wireless network, Smartboards and multimedia projectors in every classroom.
ICT is as important for the teachers as it is for the children and GEMS JPS regularly runs professional development for the staff.
Being a truly international school develops our children's sense of World Citizenship in a way that develops open and tolerant young minds. GEMS JPS actively teaches children not to discriminate and how they can grow into a world that is a global village.
Our Learning Environment
GEMS JPS provides a vibrant, supportive and creative learning environment that encourages challenges, curiosity and choice.
Children’s work is displayed in school which leads to a sense of security, pride and belonging.
Our displays around school are used primarily for the purpose of accelerating learning. These are interactive and capable of enhancing learning, aid recall, stimulate thinking, and make connections between concepts. They also reinforce roles and targets, celebrate and affirm success and motivate towards future learning.
Assessment for Learning
We use clear target setting in the school to ensure children, parents and teachers are fully aware of what steps to take to ensure progression for all. Based on National Curriculum level descriptors we review each child’s targets regularly throughout each term. Individual targets are shared with our parents formally and informally as new targets are set. Each week our year groups share the next steps of learning for the whole class with our parents.
All learning intentions are shared with our children at the beginning of each lesson to enable them to become leaders in their own learning. Teachers let the children know what their success criteria will be if they achieve the learning intention. When giving feedback in marking teachers always try to ‘close the gap’ between what was achieved and what could be attained with further understanding.
At each stage of learning we actively engage children in their own learning. We use assessment for learning techniques to help the children to reflect on previous learning and understand what the next steps could be.
