The Achievement Centre, known as ACe, aims to enrich and optimise learning experiences through a child-centred and holistic approach that motivates, challenges, stimulates and supports the needs of the individual child. In addition to supporting individual learning needs, other factors are also considered, which may impact on learning, such as vision, diet, physical co-ordination and auditory skills.
Specific Roles of the Achievement Centre Team
Head of Inclusion: The Head of Inclusion leads The Achievement Centre team, working collaboratively with all departments in Jumeirah Primary School, parents and the wider community. This includes the development of literacy, numeracy and influences on the children’s readiness for learning such as English as an Additional Language, motor skills, speech and language, dyslexia, attention issues, and the acuity and processing involved in vision and hearing.
Head of Well Being: The Head of Well Being supports the personal, social and emotional needs of children to enable them to learn more effectively. This includes the development of a personal, social, health and citizenship curriculum (PSHCE) which will be incorporated throughout the school within whole class, group and individual sessions. Working closely with teachers, families and children is an integral part of promoting the well being of all children.
Dyslexia Unit Team: The role of the Dyslexia staff is to raise awareness of dyslexia and related issues in the school and wider community so that children at risk of dyslexia are identified and can receive specialist teaching. The involvement of parents in this process is key to the children’s success.
Enrichment Programme: The enrichment programme staff work collaboratively in class to provide programmes that aim to improve general access to the curriculum.
More Able, Gifted and Talented Co-Ordinator (MAGT): The MAGT Co-Ordinator facilitates and supports the identification process of “more able, gifted and talented children”, providing them with an enriched curriculum and extra curricular opportunities to extend, enhance and challenge their learning.
Learning Support Co-Ordinator: The Learning Support Co-Ordinator leads a team of Learning Support Assistants who work with individual children to provide access to the curriculum through differentiation. Each named pupil has an Individual Education Plan that is reviewed termly.
English Language Learning Co-Ordinator: The ELL Co-Ordinator is leading the way in setting up identification of and provision for those children where ELL is a factor in their access to the curriculum.
