GEMS JPS aims to develop each student’s own individual potential for leadership, either as a motivator of others or themselves, discovering and aspiring to one’s own special area of excellence.
There are two school councils in JPS, one comprising Year 3 and 4 students and the other Year 5 and 6 students. In order to become a member of the student council the children must present a speech to their fellow classmates and let them know what they want to achieve as a school council representative.
The school council then meets weekly to discuss ways in which they can support school initiatives such as fundraising and other special events. The school council listen carefully to their class and feedback weekly to them. The school council often meet with Mr Chynoweth to present their ideas and turn ideas into action. JPS’s school council is a very important part of school life.
JPS NEWS – SCHOOL COUNCIL GOES GREEN
The year 5 & 6 School Council is proud to announce that we are taking positive steps forward to making JPS a greener school.
Recycling bins have been placed in every corner of the school so it is easy to recycle. Members of the school council have volunteered to empty bins on a weekly basis.
We look forward to seeing fuller recycling bins and less paper in rubbish bins in the future!
