Information and Communication Technologies play a key role in making JPS a highly successful international school.
Excellent resources and network infrastructure, together with a skilled teaching staff, mean ICT helps to raise standards throughout our school.
Children need to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of ICT before they can effectively use ICT in other subjects.
At JPS ICT is taught as a specific subject from Year 1, with strong cross curricular links. Children in Foundation Stage are given regular opportunities to develop early ICT skills by experimenting and using computers to express their ideas.
GEMS JPS aims to provide children, staff and parents with the latest in educational technologies. We have two computer suites, each with 27 networked PCs, Smartboards and projectors, colour laser printers, scanners, digital cameras and video cameras.
As in the classroom, a full range of eLearning resources, web-based materials and leading educational software is available during ICT lessons, and when pupils use the suites for learning in other subjects. In addition to the suites GEMS JPS offers children the use of the Discovery Centre. This is comprised of 16 PCs and a Smartboard and is aimed at promoting research and investigation through ICT.
All classes are equipped with an interactive whiteboard and workstations to provide the very best in resources for our students. Additional laptop computers are also available for use in classrooms, using the wireless network to communicate with the central school servers.
Gems Learning Gateway is the school’s virtual learning environment. Parents, teachers and staff have access to this online resource that promotes Forward Thinking and places ICT at the heart of learning and is also an excellent communications tool.
