Junior Duke Awards

We are delighted to offer the Junior Duke Award Scheme to all our JPS students.

The awards are designed to equip young people for life, regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills, or interests. Completing the award is a personal challenge rather than a competition against others. These awards are not part of the school curriculum but they support our school values. They are intended to be completed independently by students in their own time.

All JPS students from FS1 to Year 6 have the opportunity to participate in the programme at their own pace, working through the following award in each year level:

FS1 Nano Duke Award
FS2 Micro Duke Award
Year 1 Mini Duke Silver Award
Year 2 Mini Duke Gold Award
Year 3 Junior Bronze Award
Year 4 Junior Silver Award
Year 5 Junior Gold Award
Year 6 Junior Platinum Award

Each award has its own booklet to record evidence and reflections on the challenges, and we also suggest that students take photographs of themselves completing the tasks. Class teachers will monitor progress and will provide opportunities for students to present some of their achievements and projects in class. Once the challenges are completed, the children will receive a certificate and a badge.

The award is also linked to our house points (Dojos). For each challenge completed, children receive one house point. If they achieve the award by completing 10 or more of the 14 challenges (or 7 out of 10 in FS), they will receive an additional 5 house points. Students can keep track of their progress, as well as that of their friends, by checking our Junior Duke display near the Main Hall – it shows how many house points each house earns each week from completed challenges.

We love to recognise and celebrate our Junior Duke students and their successes in assemblies.
